Update: the extreme cold warning has ended.

An extreme cold warning is in effect for Ottawa beginning the evening of Thursday, February 2, 2023 into the morning of Friday, February 3, 2023 and again Friday night into Saturday, February 4, 2023 morning.

Wind chills are expected to reach minus 40 to minus 45 Thursday, February 2, 2023 evening into early Friday, February 3, 2023 morning. After moderating during the day Friday, wind chills are again forecast to reach near minus 40 Friday night into Saturday morning.

Exposure to extreme temperatures can increase your risk of frostbite and other harms. Dress warmly. Dress in layers that you can remove if you get too warm. The outer layer should be wind resistant. Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.
