Honour the memory of someone special by making a gift that creates a meaningful and enduring impact. Memorial awards offer a heartfelt way to recognize a friend, family member, or colleague while supporting the values and passions that mattered most to them.
Many choose to honor their loved ones by supporting areas that reflect their passions – whether in the Faculty of Engineering and Design, School of Journalism and Communications, Athletics, or across campus-wide initiatives. These gifts enrich the student experience and create a meaningful legacy that continues to inspire.
You can contribute to an existing fund or establish a new named fund in tribute to your loved one. Friends and family are welcome to join in giving, and every donor will receive an official donation receipt.

Elizabeth DiSabato (BA/93, BA/95)
“The bursary I set up in my mother’s name supports industrial design students. I love the idea that someday, one of the recipients will create the next widget that helps someone walk again, or replaces someone’s vision, or just makes life easier for someone who is older or has mobility issues.”
Establishing a Memorial Award
Create a lasting tribute to someone special by establishing a named memorial award at the university. This meaningful gesture provides financial support to students and reflects the values and passions of your loved one.
You can choose to Create a Named Award which supports students directly through a scholarship or bursary that carries your loved one’s name.
Named awards can be funded in two ways:
- Endowment – Endowments exist for the life of the university, which means your award will help generations of students.
- Annual Funding – A renewable commitment for a minimum of five years.
Your award will make a difference for generations of students while honouring a life well lived.
