Dear Members of the Carleton Community,
I’m thrilled to welcome you, or to welcome you back to our beautiful campus as we head into the incredible energy and excitement of September. I hope you all had a great summer and that you are rested and ready for a great year!
It’s hard to believe that it’s already been more than a year since I joined the Carleton community. It has been an honour and a privilege to work with you and to get to know you over the past year. Carleton has a reputation as a warm and welcoming community and I’ve really felt this every day. Thank you!
In that spirit, please join me in offering a special welcome to all our new staff and faculty and, of course, to all our new students. Overall, there will be more than 31,000 students at Carleton this year – we are a big and impactful place.
We can take great pride in all we accomplished last year. The culmination of course was Convocation last June when we awarded 5,000 Carleton degrees. That’s 5,000 people on their way to successful and self-determined lives thanks to the work we do – and 5,000 proud families.
Please have a look at the online version of the President’s Report that tries to capture some of the wonderful things we achieved together in 2018-2019.
I’m excited about the upcoming year, especially as we will plan the next chapter of Carleton’s history through a broad and consultative process to define our next Strategic Integrated Plan.
To keep in touch over the course of the year, I will continue to blog on topics of interest to us as a university community. These messages will be available on our P15 Blog website and the Intranet’s Top 5.
Please also have a look at my contribution to the awesome Carleton Life Books Video Series and follow @CU_President on Twitter.
I wish everyone a wonderful fall and look forward to seeing you around campus!
