Your Degree Program
The Bachelor of Commerce degree requires the completion of 20.0 credits.
To register in a full course load in your first year, you must enroll in 5.0 credits (2.5 credits in the Fall term and 2.5 credits in the Winter term) AND you must also register and complete one 0.0 credit course (BUSI 1995) to fulfill the Employability requirement of your first year.
Your First Year Course Selection Guide
The Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree requires the completion of 20.0 credits – these 20.0 credits include both Commerce Major courses and Free Electives.
Typically, a full course load in your first year will be 5.0 credits – this includes 2.5 credits in the Fall term and 2.5 credits in the Winter term. If you wish to take a reduced course load, you should seek academic advising to understand the potential impact on progression. Please contact Jordan Hunter-Fevrier at Sprott to discuss your individualized plan.
When registering for courses, be sure to read through the notes for different sections on Carleton Central. Many first-year courses have sections that are reserved for specific groups of students. For example, BUSI 1800 may have sections that are only open to business students; attempting registration in a different section may result in an error.
When registering for courses with tutorial sections, be sure to register in both a lecture section, and a corresponding tutorial section. Typically, a lecture section will have a letter listed next to it (i.e., BUSI 1800 A), while a corresponding tutorial section will have both a letter, and a number next to it (i.e., BUSI 1800 A01) – you must register in both! Be sure to register in both the Fall and Winter terms when your time ticket opens!
