Non-Degree Students
Carleton University offers a number of ways for students to take degree-credit courses to qualify for admission, to improve professional qualifications, for transfer credit, or for personal interest without being admitted to a degree program.

Special Students
Students who have not been admitted to a degree program but who are taking degree-credit courses to qualify for admission, to improve professional qualifications, for transfer credit, or for personal interest
Auditing Students
Not all students want to study for credit. Some are interested in attending a course simply for interest.
Incoming International Exchange Students
Exchange students study at Carleton for a single semester or a full academic year. To attend Carleton as an exchange student, your home institution must have an exchange agreement with Carleton.
Incoming Letter of Permission Students
Students from other institutions may study at Carleton on a Letter of Permission.
Incoming University of Ottawa Exchange Students
Eligible students may enroll in courses at Carleton University through the Undergraduate Exchange Program.
