Insurance for Travel
Student Travel Insurance Resources:
- For our students from Ontario, their first avenue for injury expense coverage is what is provided by provincial health insurance (OHIP). OHIP provides emergency expenses coverage for a limited amount of expenses incurred internationally.
- International students would have access to the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP), as their OHIP equivalency, https://carleton.ca/isso/uhip/.
- All undergraduate students are automatically enrolled in extended health benefits through the CUSA student health plan, which includes extensive travel insurance coverage. Further information is available here: https://www.cusaonline.ca/services/healthplan/.
- All graduate students are automatically enrolled in extended health benefits through the Graduate Students Association (GSA) student health plan, this plan also includes travel insurance coverage. Further information is available here: https://gsacarleton.ca/healthplan/.
- While not applicable to every student, many may have access to extended health benefits through an extended health plan (EHP) available through a parent/legal guardian. This is often available to students enrolled in full-time programs and under the age of 25, students may need to check if these health plans include coverage for travel medical insurance.
