Board Composition

Carleton University’s Board of Governors consists of 32 diverse members who uniquely understand higher education and its force for good. As the university’s corporate body, the Board oversees budgetary and infrastructure decisions and appoints the school’s President and Vice-Chancellor, and other key senior executives.

Breakdown of Board membership: 4 students, 2 faculty, 2 senators, 2 alumni. 2 staff and 18 community members. The ex-offico members are the President and Chancellor.

Board Committees

The Board exercises its oversight through six standing committees:

  • Audit and Risk
  • Building Program
  • Governance
  • Finance
  • Advancement and University Relations

Additionally, the Board appoints four of its members to serve as representatives on Carleton University’s Senate. Only two of these representatives are allowed to vote at each meeting of Senate.
