Standing Committees

The Board of Governors exercises its oversight through six standing committees. Governors serve on one or two committees during their term:

Additionally, the Board appoints four of its members to serve as representatives on Carleton University’s Senate.

Executive Officers

A member of the administration is designated to serve as Executive Officer for each committee of the Board. This member of management works with the University Secretary to:

  • Establish agendas for each committee meeting
  • Ensure adequate background and documentation are provided
  • Confirm that all committee actions and requests are followed through
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the university administration and the committee Chair, ensuring the Chair is properly briefed before each meeting
