About Me
My research focuses on utilizing lipids to gain insight into the subtle differences between biological systems. Specifically, I use untargeted lipid relative quantification to compared how specific lipid species change in response to stimuli. To acquire this data, I typically perform a lipid extraction followed by analysis with HPLC-Q-ToF and GC-MS for lipid and sterol analysis respectively.
For example, I investigated the impact of TGF-β on the lipid profile of human lung fibroblasts and whether asthma resulted in a distinct response. This project was in collaboration with The Tissue Engineering & Applied Materials (TEAM) Hub. The data acquired provided a comprehensive snapshot of the cell biochemistry and accurately informed further targeted biochemical analyses.
I am always looking for new collaboration opportunities or ideas to improve workflows. If you’re interested in my work please reach out to my LinkedIn (www.linkedin.com/in/jacobhclarke).
A fun fact about me is that I am a competitive curler and have secured back-to-back U Sports silver medals for the Carleton Raven’s in 2025 & 2026.
