Carleton sustainable energy students showcased their analytical capacities at the Ontario Energy Board’s inaugural Energython case competition held in Toronto on 30 January 2026. Representing Carleton as Team Meter Made Better, graduate students Sean Thomas, Maia Warren, Melizza Clayden Tabobondung, and Vedika Chandran advanced from 15 initial teams to become one of only four finalists. The team delivered a well‑reasoned analysis on balancing new energy sources within Ontario’s regulatory frameworks, drawing on insights from their coursework and developed throughout the 10-day competition.

“They presented a multi‑criteria analysis that brought together energy transition considerations and equity impacts” said Professor Daniel Rosenbloom, adding that “I’m genuinely proud of what they accomplished here”.

Their strong performance underscores the calibre of Carleton’s emerging leaders in energy transitions.
