Join us in celebrating a milestone three decades in the making!
Virtual Ventures, the award-winning not-for-profit organization run under Carleton University’s Faculty of Engineering and Design, proudly commemorates its 30th Anniversary in 2024.
For thirty years, Virtual Ventures has been igniting the imaginations of Ottawa’s youth, offering nationally recognized programs in technology, engineering, and science. From junior kindergarten to grade 12, we’ve been shaping young minds, providing experiences that engage youth with the exciting world of STEM. As we mark this momentous occasion, we invite you to join us in celebrating the past, present, and future of innovation and inspiration. Here’s to thirty years of empowering young minds and fostering a passion for discovery!
1994-2004
With humble beginnings of 150 youth each summer, our name became a symbol of innovation. From hosting Bill Gates to creating all-girls programming, the team that started it all has been setting the trend in the community since the start.
2004-2014
Virtual Ventures blossomed with an array of specialty camps, from web design to animation, game design to programming growing our reach to 3,000 youth annually. Additionally, the appointment of our first full-time Director underscored the Faculty’s commitment to excellence in youth education.
2014-2024
Virtual Ventures has experienced exponential growth, expanding our impact with year-round programming reaching 10,000-20,000 youth annually. With a dedicated focus on reaching under-represented groups, including initiatives like ‘Go Where Kids Are’ and tailored programs for Indigenous and Black Youth.
