In Memory of Danny
Leader. Innovator. Mentor. Colleague. Friend.
Danny always said he was a father, a husband and a developer. In that order. In the Carleton community, he was also a leader, an innovator and a mentor who cared about the work we did and even more about the people who made it happen.
Danny spearheaded a lot of important initiatives and held a variety of positions during his time at Carleton, but one that he took a great deal of pride in was being the Manager of Web Services, a unit created within ITS in the fall of 2010 following a successful pilot project lead by Danny using WordPress, a tool that he was very passionate about.
Web and user interface design were also a passion of Danny’s and he was the driving force behind the brand design on the web at Carleton for over a decade. For Danny, this was just as much a hobby as it was a job and that showed each and every day for anyone working with him. It was hard to not be motivated by Danny’s commitment and desire to do more.
Danny passed away in January 2024. For our team he leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication and respect that will live on through our work and our team for years to come. If it weren’t for his vision the university would not have had amazing content management systems over the years that culminated with cuTheme. Nor would we have our fantastic design framework and React component library Raven Design System (RDS), a project Danny began designing and developing back in 2018.
Our work on both these, and all our other projects always has been and forever will be inspired by your vision Danny.
Rest in Peace my friend. We love you.
