The Canadian Council of Muslim Women, Ottawa chapter will be screening this critically acclaimed documentary on the controversial practice of triple divorce. The film examines the devastating effects of this practice on Muslim women in India, and their efforts to have this law repealed.
We thank the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa as well as the Joint Chair of Women’s Studies at the University of Ottawa and Carleton University, as well as the Shirley E. Greenberg Chair for Women and the Legal Profession for their generous support.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with the filmmaker, Shazia Javed of Toronto, Natasha Bakht, Associate Professor of Law at Ottawa U and Dr. Sheema Khan, columnist at the Globe and Mail.
The audience is then invited to engage in a Q and A with the panelists.
