Dear Members of the Carleton Community,

Carleton University takes pride in being considered one of Canada’s most accessible universities. Since the launch of Carleton’s Coordinated Accessibility Strategy (CAS) in June 2020, progress has been made on almost all of the 40 recommendations proposed in the strategy.

Notable examples include the launch of the Canadian Accessibility Network, the development of accessible characteristics for space bookings, the creation of an accessible event guide, introducing adaptive sport and recreation, the creation of the accessibility commons, conducting physical campus audits, the creation of the researchers in accessibility network, the acclamation of Carleton University’s Accessibility Institute and the launch of a master’s level Collaborative Specialization in Accessibility.

Although there has been a great deal of progress, we acknowledge there is still work to be done. Over the next six months, we will be engaging with the entire community in a collaborative process to renew Carleton’s Coordinated Accessibility Strategy. Members of the Carleton community are encouraged to provide feedback through our consultation website, attend one of the upcoming consultation sessions or email AccessibilityStrategy@carleton.ca.

We look forward to collaborating with you in the renewal of this strategy where, together, we can work towards creating a more accessible and inclusive world.

Sincerely,

Suzanne Blanchard
Vice-President (Students and Enrolment)
