Our Mission
Carleton University was founded in 1942 with the mission to provide opportunity to the young people of Ottawa and serve the broader region and its citizens. That mission remains true today, though now we serve a global community; we believe that through higher education Carleton University contributes to the greater good of society.
Relationships are essential in this mission. Collaborative partnerships and contributions of time, wisdom, and funds from supporters help nurture tomorrow’s leaders, encourage innovative research, and develop practical solutions to national and global challenges. It is University Advancement’s job to initiate and develop these relationships.
Working closely with the university’s senior leadership, the department leads and coordinates effective alumni relations, fundraising, stewardship and related communication efforts to re-engage alumni, find other potential partners, and then collaborate on solutions for mutual and societal benefit. Through partnership, our donors and champions give not TO Carleton but THROUGH Carleton, so that together we can contribute more to the good of society, its economy and institutions, and the health and well-being of citizens around the world.
Professionals within the overall department collaborate to ensure Carleton University graduates, friends and supporters can enjoy a strong and beneficial relationship with the university. DUA’s administrative units are:
