I see my role as finding alignment between the impact a person wishes to have in the world, and how Carleton can be a vehicle to get there. It’s about listening to the impact that a donor envisions, matching it to our unique Carleton context, then bringing in subject matter experts who can make it possible.
When I joined Carleton, I was a newcomer to Ottawa. I wanted to use my fundraising experience to give back to my new hometown. Today I am an advocate and champion of Carleton, and I know how important it is to our community. A university education equips students to identify and understand challenges in the world, come up with innovative approaches and ultimately make the world and our city a better place.
It is rewarding to help make university possible for students—and then to let them know that there are people out there who are interested in their success even without having met them.
