Dr. Darcy Hallett

Dr. Darcy Hallett is a Professor in the Department of Psychology and a researcher in the area of mathematical cognition. His research looks at the role of conceptual and procedural knowledge in performance on math tasks, especially in the realm of fractions. He also researches the relation between math anxiety and math performance, and how to best mitigate socio-emotional barriers to learning math. He completed his Ph.D. at UBC in Developmental Psychology (with a minor in Psychometrics) in 2005, completed a SSHRC post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Oxford from 2005 to 2007, and started his current academic position at Memorial University in 2007.
