National Gallery of Canada (NGC)
The National Gallery of Canada is home to the country’s nationally-funded art collection. They have an extensive collection of Canadian and Indigenous art as well as masterworks of contemporary , European, American, Asian, photographic, and print art. Much of the NGC’s collection is available online.
Library and Archives of Canada (LAC)
The Library and Archives of Canada is the national institution charged with preserving and sharing Canada’s documentary heritage. Access to their extensive collections is available online through their search tool. In addition to access to their collections, they offer several research guides and tools.
Canadian Museum of History (CMH)
The Canadian Museum of History (CMH) is a Gatineau-based history museum aiming to enhance Canadians’ understanding of Canada’s history and identity and of world history and cultures. The CMH has over 200,000 artifacts available online and is the most-visited museum in Canada.

Ingenium encompasses Canada’s museums of science and innovation, including the Canadian Agricultural and Food Museum, the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum, and the Canadian Science and Technology Museum. They have a large collection as well as library and archives services to support research into the history of science, technology, agriculture, food, aviation and space in Canada
Canada Council Art Bank
The Canada Council Art Bank makes contemporary Canadian art accessible to the public. They have the largest collection of Canadian art in the world, with 3,000 artists represented. They make this collection public through corporate art rental, museum loans, outreach, and a digital collection tool.
