What is the AVRC?
The AVRC is a resource centre dedicated to supporting teaching and research in the School for Studies in Art & Culture (Art & Architectural History, Film Studies and Music) by providing access to the School’s resources in new and meaningful ways. Our services and collections continue to develop alongside digital humanities research while safeguarding our analogue past.
The Audio-Visual Resource Centre provides the following services:
- Collection development and support
- Development and support of digital teaching and research resources using various open source platforms
- Facilitation of classroom screenings and rescreenings
- Online searching of SSAC’s teaching and reference collections
- Reference services
- Reserve services and general circulation of books, films, and equipment
- Spaces for consulting the collections, quiet study, and small group meetings
- Technical assistance in digitizing visual/audio-visual material or in incorporating this material in presentations
- Training opportunities for students
