Media Viewing & Digitization

Digitization and Media Services are available for SSAC students and faculty on a case by case basis, thank you for your understanding ~ AVRC Staff
Screening room (SP 433)
The recently renovated screening room has a 35mm slide projector, a 16mm film projector and projection screen, as well as a large TV that can be used for screening DVD, Blu-Ray, VHS, and other video files. A sectional couch makes for a comfortable screening experience!
Email us or come by in person to discuss reserving the space. Use of the screening room is on a case-by-case basis.
Digitization room (SP 431)
The digitization room is set up to facilitate:
- Object photography
- Copy photography (of slides, film, books, printed material, etc)
- Transfer/digitization of film, video, and audio (including 16mm film, VHS, tapes, and laserdisc)
Email us or come by in person to discuss reserving the space. Use of the digitization room is primarily for researchers engaged in projects associated with the AVRC, and is granted on a case-by-case basis.
Student lounge (SP 462)
The AVRC student lounge has 5 double-monitor computer workstations, each able to play DVDs and Blu-Rays (including multi- and other-region discs).
The student lounge is also equipped with tables, couches, armchairs, a microwave, and a fridge, making it a great study spot as well!
The student lounge is open from 7am-11pm daily (including weekends).
The lounge is for use by: SSAC students (Art & Architectural History, Music, Film Studies), MA students researching related disciplines, and others on a case-by-case basis. Students must first visit the AVRC circulation desk to have access to the lounge activated on their student card.
Collections room (SP 456)
The AVRC collections room is multi-use space for collections storage and hands-on material consultation. The space is equipped with two large tables, stools, and a double-sided slide viewing board, making it a great space for studying slides, prints or artefacts.

Other equipment
The AVRC has other media and film viewing equipment, such as travelling Blu-Ray players, available for loan.
