Brett Tackaberry is a Principal Architect for the Public Sector at Google Cloud, where he partners with government and public sector organizations to design transformative solution roadmaps. His work focuses on leveraging cloud technologies and AI-driven innovations to address complex business challenges and drive digital transformation.
With over 20 years of experience in technology leadership, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity, Brett brings deep expertise in strategic planning, financial analysis, and risk management. His career includes notable roles such as Technical Advisor at Hyphen, a climate-tech startup; Director of Software and Machine Learning, and later VP of Engineering at Azavea; and Chief Technology Officer at Rebel.com, a provider of domain name and web hosting services.
Brett also serves as Chair of the Algonquin College Computer Science Program Advisory Committee and is an active speaker, sponsor, and member of AI Tinkerers Ottawa. Since 2016, he has been a dedicated Board Member of the Child Nature Alliance of Canada, contributing to its finance and governance committees. Additionally, he has played a leadership role in Ottawa’s Tech4Good, a network of nonprofit technology professionals advocating for ethical and impactful tech use in the nonprofit sector.
A proud alumnus of Carleton University with a B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering, Brett credits the institution with laying the foundation for his career in technology. He remains actively engaged with Carleton through initiatives such as Virtual Ventures, summer camps, job fairs, co-op programs, and events at Hub350 in Kanata.
Brett has been elected to the Board of Governors for a three-year term commencing July 1, 2025, and ending on June 30, 2028.
