Allan Buri

Allan Buri is a student leader at Carleton University with a distinguished record of service and advocacy across multiple levels of campus governance. Formerly President of the Carleton Academic Student Government (CASG), a Director on the Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA) Board, and an ex-officio member of the Carleton Senate, Allan brings a deep understanding of the university’s academic and financial landscape.

His leadership has been marked by a commitment to transparency, student engagement, and institutional accountability. Under his direction, CASG launched the Academic Concern Intake Form, a groundbreaking initiative that empowered students to voice academic concerns directly, leading to new advocacy efforts around textbook affordability, course outline transparency, and improved library access.

Allan’s governance experience extends to financial oversight and strategic planning. As a CUSA Board Director, he has participated in complex financial deliberations, gaining insight into the challenges of balancing justifiable decisions with transparent processes. He is adept at analyzing financial statements and is known for asking critical, informed questions that prioritize student interests.

Beyond governance, Allan has built strong relationships within the Carleton community through his roles as a Residence Fellow and former Floor Councillor with the Rideau River Residence Association.

His professional background includes work in municipal planning and legislative services, where he gained valuable experience in public consultation practices and policy development.

Allan has been elected to the Board of Governors for a one-year term commencing July 1, 2025, and ending on June 30, 2026.
