This term will officially mark Carleton’s first fall semester using the new Learning Management System (LMS), Brightspace by D2L. Whether you have extensive experience with the platform or are teaching with Brightspace for the first time, Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) has a variety of resources to ensure you have a successful term.
TLS Teaching with Technology Support Portal
We have launched a new TLS Teaching with Technology Support Portal to manage support requests more efficiently. Through this platform you can submit a ticket for Brightspace support, Capture support and Zoom support. Whether you need teaching with technology advice, technical support, or want to report a report an issue, TLS is ready to help! We anticipate enhancing the portal over the next year by incorporating additional support requests, including course consultations, cuPortfolio support, classroom orientations and equipment loans.
What’s New with Brightspace?
Brightspace is updated around the first or second week of each month, with no system down time. This monthly update process is called Continuous Delivery and allows for new features, security updates and bug fixes to be applied seamlessly to the LMS. Carleton is on the Wave 3 update schedule and you can visit the D2L 2021 Wave schedule to see when the next update to the system will occur.
Each month, we’ll identify the latest LMS changes and provide a short summary of the impact of the change for users on our What’s New with Brightspace? support page. We’ll share tips about how to use the latest features and provide reminders about where to get help and training.
Brightspace training and support website
We continue to offer a variety of Brightspace training options and workshops, ranging from the basics and specific tools to weekly drop-in support hours, where TLS support staff can answer your questions. For access to past workshop recordings check out the TLS Brightspace Channel.
If you need of additional support, TLS has developed a robust Brightspace Support website with instructions and resources for instructors, TAs and students.
