Hadjisophocleous, Zalok and Salem win “Best Poster” at International Conference

Professor George Hadjisophocleous, of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering attended the International Conference Application of Structural Fire Engineering, Prague, Czech Republic, April 29, 2011, where he presented the paper “Fire Modelling of Axially Restrained Tubular Steel Beams” co-authored by Osama Salem and Ehab Zalok.  This study, which was also presented as a poster, received the “The Best Poster” award.   The work, which is part of the PhD thesis of Osama Salem, combines full-scale experiments and computer modelling to study the behaviour of tubular steel connections in fire
