Bonany wins Kalun Chan Memorial Scholarship

James Bonany, a graduate student under the supervision of Professor Paul Van Geel, was the recipient of the Kalun “Cliff” Chan Memorial Scholarship for 2012. The Halton Region and the Ontario Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) offers the $1,000.00 scholarship to encourage students studying in disciplines related to solid waste management and environmental protection. The scholarship is in memory of Cliff Chan, Halton Region’s Director of Solid Waste Management Services and a Director of the Ontario Chapter of SWANA until his untimely death in November 2000.

The scholarship was awarded during SWANA’s 6th Canadian Waste Symposium in Niagara Falls, ON  during which Bonany presented his research regarding bioreactors operating in northern climates.
