Professor Mario Santana recipient of prestigious award
The Spanish Society of Virtual Archaeology (SEAV) has awarded Mario the Tartessos Award for 2012 for his leadership as president of CIPA. CIPA is the International Scientific Committee for Documentation of Cultural Heritage (http://cipa.icomos.org/ ) . The Tartessos Prize in Virtual Archaeology, is an award granted by the Spanish Society of Virtual Archaeology (SEAV) (http://www.arqueologiavirtual.com/arqueo/premios-tartessos/premios-2012-prize-2012), this is an important organization in the field of digitizing cultural heritage around the world, they have drafted the Seville Charter on Virtual Archaeology (http://www.arqueologiavirtual.com/carta/), which provides guiding principles on the application of computer-based visualization in the field of cultural heritage, these awards have been granted since 2009, recipients include important researchers in this field from around the world, as Dr. Maurizio Forte, Bernard Fischer and Daniel Pletinckx.
