CITE hosts annual student competition

The Carleton University Student Chapter alongside the National Capital Section of the Canadian Institute of Transportation Engineers (CITE) hosted their annual student competition at Carleton University on April 8th, 2013. Three teams and one individual from Carleton took part in this year’s completion. All participants were in their fourth year and had interest in transportation engineering.

Presentations where made on topics related to transportation engineering, design and analysis. The winners of this year’s presentation are below:

1st Place: Nyishi Muchima, Ben Pascolo-Neveu, Gosego Motukwa, Naser Snobar, Pubudu Herath and Saeid Matin
Presentation Topic: Carling Light Rail Transit

2nd Place: Giannin Viecili
Presentation Topic: Experimental Investigation of Behavior of Floating Ribbon Pontoon Bridge

 
3rd Place: Adam Boosey, Anthony Bozzo, Brad Hewson, Brett Lewandowsky, and Eric Shaw.
Presentation Topic: Interchange design at Highway 174 and Trim Road

 The winners of this year’s competition automatically qualified to enter a pool of other winners of the same competition organized by various CITE chapters nationwide from which the group with the best presentation would be selected to deliver their presentation at the 2014 CITE Annual Conference. The overall winning group would receive free registration to the conference and reimbursement of their travel expenses, up to a maximum of $1,000.
