Professor Santana participates in conservation training course for Syria

Prof Santana participates in the teaching e-learning course for Syrian cultural heritage professionals in cooperation with the International Council for Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) and the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and restoration of Cultural property (ICCROM)

Damascus, on January 7 Prof Santana has contributed with his expertise on documentation for conservation on a training course  for Syrian cultural heritage professionals. This course “Protection of Syria’s Cultural Heritage in Times of Armed Conflict” was organized  ICOMOS, in cooperation with ICCROM and the Directorate-General of Antiquities and Museums of Syria (DGAM). It was delivered using e-learning tools.  About 75 DGAM managers, directors, curators, architects and staff, including Syrian cultural heritage researchers and experts of conservation, gathered with Syrian members of ICOMOS, university professors, and a few students from the Ecole de Chaillot at the National Museum of Damascus to follow the lectures and exchange with nine trainers from ICOMOS, ICCROM and the UNESCO World Heritage Centre. The trainers made their presentations from their countries of residence: Canada, Spain, UK, France, Italy, Turkey and India.
