Gunay and Abuimara research COVID-19 transmission in indoor environments

The primary purpose of heating and cooling systems in commercial buildings is temperature control. They were not designed to limit the spread of an airborne virus. In their research, Professor Burak Gunay and Instructor Tareq Abuimara try to understand the issues that regular HVAC configurations have when providing and maintaining sufficient indoor air quality. They propose occupancy sensing and occupancy-based ventilation as a solution. For more information about their research, click here.
