Carleton wins 1st place at CSCE Capstone competition

Congratulations to Carleton Capstone team – represented by Rachel Boyer and Rowan Ross – who won 1st place at CSCE Capstone competition 2022 which was held in Whistler in May.

The annual CSCE Capstone competition is held during the CSCE Annual Conference in the summer. This competition is open to all senior undergraduate students in an accredited Canadian civil engineering program. Each civil engineering department is invited to submit a nomination for a single entry into the competition in any specialty area of the field (Structural, Construction, Geotechnical, Geomechanics, Hydraulics and Water Resources, Transportation or Environmental Engineering), for projects completed during the preceding academic year. The selected teams attend the annual CSCE conference where they present their projects in a poster session before a jury of experienced practitioners.

CAPSTONE COMPETITION

According to the supervisor, Professor Onita Basu, “This year, Carleton Capstone team competed against 20 other teams to impress the judges with their presentation skills, clarity of slides, poster, and a Q&A session.  Their capstone project was on Wastewater Treatment within a small community in Ecuador and involved local engineers who have been working towards implementation of a wastewater treatment system which does not currently exist with the community.”
