The 2023 John Adjeleian Lecture and Awards Event
This year’s John Adjeleian Lecture was conducted in a hybrid format. With over 160 in-person and virtual attendees, including students, faculty, esteemed guests, and our exceptional graduate student award winners, we enjoyed a wonderful lecture on liquefaction by distinguished speaker Dr. Ross W. Boulanger.
Dr. Boulanger talked about how knowledge gaps and limitations hinder the efficient evaluation and mitigation of liquefaction hazards. He suggests the needs and future directions for more effectively addressing liquefaction hazards. Dr. Boulanger walked us through various aspects to consider when addressing liquefaction such as site characterization, engineering analysis methods, challenging soil types, remediation methods, performance-based engineering procedures, and risk management.
Awards Event
The in-person venue celebrated the achievements of Civil and Environmental Engineering graduate students who were awarded scholarships, fellowships, and bursaries between 2022 – 2023.
Students received their awards and enjoyed connecting with members of our faculty and the distinguished guests.
Check out the smiles from our student award winners!
