Muhammad Salam receives the 2024 Health and Safety Award
Congratulations to the Department’s Laboratory Supervisor, Muhammad Salam, for receiving this year’s Health and Safety Award. He is being recognized for his continuous commitment to ensuring the safety of faculty, students and others in and around the laboratories. Below are a couple of what people have to say about him.
Muhammad is very much aware of his responsibilities as a supervisor in a high risk lab on campus and wants to know what he can do to protect his staff and students.
Muhammad often reaches out to EHS to ask about safety concerns including elevated work involving staff and students, concerns about hazards and how to mitigate them. When purchasing new equipment for use in the lab he contacted EHS and FMP to confirm it was certified for use in Canada and when it was not he inquired about how to proceed to have it certified before installation
