The Carleton University Troitsky Bridge Design Team wins 13 awards at the 2024 Troitsky Bridge Building Competition

From February 23rd to 26th, the Carleton University Troitsky Bridge Design Team attended the 40th-anniversary Troitsky Bridge Building Competition at Concordia University. Each year, bachelor’s in engineering students from across North America compete to build the strongest bridge out of popsicle sticks, white craft glue, and dental floss. Teams are scored based on originality, a technical presentation to a panel of academics and industry professionals, structural efficiency, other bridge elements, as well as, team spirit.

This year, the Carleton Admirals (Presidents) brought six teams to attend. Each team consists of a captain and five members. Overall, the whole Carleton team took home six first-place awards plus one honourary award, 5 second-place awards, and two third-place awards all while making long-lasting friendships and memories. In addition, the Team broke the previous Carleton record (by The Grand Spanyon) for the strongest bridge which withstood the weight at 949 kilograms before failure.

Indeed an impressive win for the Carleton University Troitsky Bridge Design Team. Congratulations!
