Professor Banu Ormeci Elected as a 2026 Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering

Our most heartfelt congratulations to Professor Banu Örmeci for being elected as a 2026 Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering!
This election is a huge honour and recognition of Dr. Banu’s academic and industry contributions as the Jarislowsky Chair in Water and Global Health, and Canada Research Professor in Wastewater and Public Health Engineering!
The Canadian Academy of Engineering’s news release notes on Professor Ormeci’s profile:
“Dr. Banu Örmeci received her MS and PhD degrees from Duke University (USA). She is a Full Professor and the Jarislowsky Chair in Water and Global Health in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and the Director of the Global Water Institute at Carleton University. She leads an internationally recognized research program on wastewater treatment and monitoring of emerging contaminants and pathogens. Her innovative research has resulted in several patents and new technologies. She is a dedicated educator, mentor, and volunteer, and has given freely of her time, professional experience, and engineering expertise to benefit the public.”
