Kathryn Chung – BEng, Architectural Conservation and Sustainable Engineering – “Hi friends! I have just finished my degree in Architectural Conservation and Sustainable Engineering, although sometimes it feels like just yesterday that I was participating in EngFrosh. While fulfilling my academic requirements, thanks to many caring professors and TAs, I was lucky enough to be able to balance my life with a number of activities. Whether it be learning practical skills in the Civil Lab and having the chance to participate and lead Carleton’s Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race team, creating CUDB (Carleton University’s Dragon Boat student team), while also training for Canada’s U24 National Dragon Boat team or connecting with students from other degrees through Carleton’s Competitive Cheer team, I can say that I have enjoyed my time here and developed the knowledge and skills to succeed. I will also be forever thankful for all the wonderful people I have met and gotten to know during my 5 years at Carleton. Finally, I would like to wish my fellow Carleton graduates all the best in their future endeavors. CU later! #grads2020 #madeit #girlsinengineering”
Gaelan Kirby – BEng, Civil Engineering – “I’ll never forget my time spent at Carleton. Thank you to my friends and family for your companionship, love and support. I couldn’t have done it without you.”
Janet Shaw – BEng, Civil Engineering – “So excited to have finished my civil engineering degree with these amazing people. Can’t wait for a reunion!! Right now I’m back at work (from home) for Adjeleian Allen Rubeli where I worked last summer for my co-op. They’ve been great to work with and working from home is new but everyone is collaborating and learning to communicate in this new environment to get projects done. Looking forward to all the new learning experiences to come”
Audrey Kester – BEng, Civil Engineering – “Although I wouldn’t have chose this ending to my time at Carleton, I do not regret being a part of the Class of 2020. The people I’ve met and the friends I have made challenged and spurred my interest in the civil engineering field. I am excited to start working at R.J. Burnside in Guelph as a Drainage EIT. I’m looking forward to the future as my career progresses and cannot wait for a time when we can all get together again”
Becca Conrod – BEng, Civil Engineering – “I was an active member of EngFrosh, the Carleton Engineering Musical and the Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race (GNCTR) Team during my university career. Now I am a Project Designer at R.V. Anderson Associates Limited in Ottawa!”
Amanda Corner – BEng. Civil Engineering -“As you can probably tell I am one of the students that graduated this June. This is absolutely not how I thought my university degree would end, but I wouldn’t change it. If you where to change the ending of this chapter, then you would change the story. Being a part of the Carleton community (through CSCE, EngFrosh, GNCTR, and many other things) has created some of my favourite memories. Thank you to those who have supported me and I couldn’t be happier to be a 2020 Grad!”

None of us wanted to sit on our couch and graduate. But let’s get adapted to the so called ‘new normal’. Can’t wait for the world to get back to normal and for us to have the actual graduation ceremony. Happy graduation to all the new grads! “
