The Calls invite research teams that bring together companies and academic researchers from Canada and China to propose bilateral R&D projects for the joint development of innovative products or processes.

Human Vaccines

The scope of this initiative encompasses basic and clinical health research which may also include health services research and population health research in the field of vaccines against infectious diseases. Canada and China would like to establish research teams from academia, government and the private sector through a joint program for research, development and manufacturing of vaccines for humans that would be innovative and beneficial to both countries.  It is expected that these teams will combine the research strengths of both countries to provide a value-added collaborative effort that will advance vaccine research.

Clean Automotive Transportation

Canada is the ninth largest vehicle producer in the world. The automobile sector is Canada’s largest contributor to manufacturing Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and its largest manufacturing employer. The industry directly supports over 550,000 jobs across the country in 11 light duty and 3 heavy-duty assembly plants, over 540 Original Equipment (OEM) parts manufacturers, and many other directly related industries. It is estimated that the automobile sector directly and indirectly employs one out of every seven Canadians.
