Background

Mitacs is a national, private not-for-profit organization that has designed and delivered unique research and training programs in Canada for 15 years. In partnership with companies, government and universities, Mitacs is supporting a new economy using Canada’s most valuable resource—its people. As a complement to its domestic initiatives, Mitacs has a series of international programs which provide two-way knowledge and talent exchange between key partner countries and Canada. Such international opportunities provide a means to expand Canada’s academic connections facilitating the exchange of knowledge and ideas.

Opportunity

The Globalink Research Award offers senior undergraduate and graduate students at Carleton University the opportunity to undertake research abroad.  Each research project will occur over a 12 to 24 week (3-6 month) period and will be jointly supervised by faculty members in Canada and in a Mitacs partner country.

Eligibility

  • Graduate or senior undergraduate student
  • Award is open to all academic disciplines
  • Intern can be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or international student
  • The research is to be co-supervised in one of the following Mitacs partner countries:
    • Brazil
    • China
    • India
    • Mexico
    • Turkey
    • Vietnam
  • Interns may only undertake a research project at an institution where they have not previously completed a degree

 Funding Available

  • Maximum amount: $5,000
  • Project duration: 12 to 24 weeks (3-6 months)
