Background

Mitacs is a national, private not-for-profit organization that has designed and delivered unique research and training programs in Canada for 16 years. In partnership with the not-for-profit sector, companies and universities, Mitacs is supporting a new economy using Canada’s most valuable resource—its people.

As a complement to its domestic initiatives, Mitacs has a series of international programs which provide two-way knowledge and talent exchange between key partner countries and Canada. Such international opportunities provide a means to expand Canada’s academic connections facilitating the exchange of knowledge and ideas.

Opportunity

The Globalink Research Award – Campus France provides an opportunity for faculty at Canadian universities to strengthen existing international research collaborations and connect with colleagues in France through the mobility of senior undergraduate and graduate students.

Student recipients of the Globalink Research Award – Campus France will develop research skills, cultural fluency, and a professional network, becoming part of Canada’s generation of global innovators.

Each research project will occur over a 12 to 24 week (3-6 month) period and will be jointly supervised by a faculty member at Carleton and a host faculty member at a university in France.

Eligibility

  • The competitive award is open to graduate and senior undergraduate students.
  • The student must maintain full-time status during the time that the award is held
  • Applicant can be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Applicant must have identified a host supervisor who is a recognized faculty member at an accredited University in France

Funding Available

Mitacs will provide a $5,000 research award to the Canadian supervisor to support student travel expenses, research-related expenses, and student stipend.

In addition, Campus France will provide a $5,000 award to cover accommodation and local expenses in France. These funds will be provided to the students directly upon their arrival in France.
