The Livestock Vaccine Innovation Fund (LVIF) is pleased to announce the first of two research calls in 2016.

This exciting first global research call, Innovations in Livestock Vaccines, will enable researchers to exploit the latest advances in biotechnology and vaccinology which now provide unparalleled opportunities for the rapid development of new generation livestock vaccines.

Opportunity

With a strong focus on innovative and cutting-edge practices, the LVIF will leverage state-of-the-art technologies to develop new vaccines for livestock diseases in sub-Saharan Africa, South and Southeast Asia.

All proposals must have the potential to accelerate the vaccine research and development process towards marketable vaccines for one or more livestock diseases in the focus regions.

Eligibility

  • Applicants from research-focused organizations from academia, private sector and research institutes are eligible for this global c
  • Applicants from the United Nations system cannot apply to this Call as lead or co- applicants. UN organizations may participate as collaborating organization
  • Applicants from CGIAR Centres are not eligible as lead applicant but are eligible as co- applicants or collaborating organizations.
  • The lead applicant and co-applicants may negotiate and develop funding arrangements directly with third-party organizations for specific servic IDRC will not contract directly with third-party organizations. Applications that involve third-party organizations must clearly justify their involvement and explain their role(s). The total third-party participation in a project is set at a maximum of 30% of the budget.
  • A person is eligible to be an applicant on a maximum of three projects in this C A person cannot be the lead applicant for more than one project. A person can apply as the lead applicant for one project and be a co-applicant for two additional projects.

  • Maximum amount: $1.5M
  • Project duration: 24 months
