The Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences is soliciting proposals under its education research CFDA 84.305A programme. This program seeks to improve the quality of education for all students, from prekindergarten through postsecondary and adult education, by advancing the understanding of and practices for teaching, learning, and organising education systems. The purpose is to improve education outcomes for all students, particularly those at risk of failure. This call happens annually.

This year’s topics of interest are:

  • cognition and student learning;
  • early learning programmes and policies;
  • education leadership;
  • education technology;
  • effective teachers and effective teaching;
  • English learners;
  • improving education systems;
  • postsecondary and adult education;
  • reading and writing;
  • science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education;
  • social and behavioural context for academic learning;
  • special topics in education research – arts in education, career and technical education, and systematic approaches to educating highly mobile students.

Eligibility

Applications that have the ability and capacity to conduct specific research are eligible to apply. Eligible applicants include, but are not limited to, non-profit and for-profit organizations and public and private agencies and institutions, such as colleges and universities.

Available Funding

  • The maximum grant award available ranges between 600,000 and 3,800,000 USD to cover a period of up to five years
