Advanced Training Module 5: Embeds and Integrations
Video can be one of the most effective ways to communicate information, demonstrate processes, showcase research, or share stories. Rather than uploading videos directly to your website, cutheme allows you to embed videos from supported video platforms and display them directly within your pages.
Embedding videos keeps your website fast while taking advantage of specialized video platforms that handle streaming, captions, and playback.
There are two ways to work with video in cutheme:
Video Posts
Use the Video content type when you want to:
- Build video galleries
- Categorize videos
- Display video listings and cards
- Create collections of related content
Video Embeds
Use the Video Embed block when you want to display a specific video directly on a page.
This lesson focuses on the second approach: embedding individual videos into your content.
When to Use a Video Embed
A Video Embed works best when a video supports the content on a specific page.
Examples include:
- Tutorial videos
- Welcome messages
- Research presentations
- Event recordings
- Promotional videos
- Demonstrations and walkthroughs
Because the video appears directly within the page, visitors can watch it without navigating elsewhere.
Supported Video Platforms
cutheme supports video embeds from several platforms, including:
- YouTube
- Kaltura (MediaSpace)
- TED
Additional providers may be available depending on your site’s configuration.
Important: Videos should be uploaded to an approved video platform first. Videos are not uploaded directly to your website.
Adding a Video Embed
To add a video:
- Click the + button and search for Video Embed.
- Add the block to your page.
- Paste the video URL into the provided field.
- Select Embed.
The video will automatically appear within the page.
Adjusting Video Width
Once embedded, you can choose different display widths.
For example:
- Default width
- Wide width
A wider layout can create greater visual impact, especially on landing pages and homepage sections.
Use wide layouts thoughtfully so videos remain balanced with surrounding content.
Kaltura (MediaSpace) Videos
When embedding Kaltura videos:
- ✅ Use the URL provided through the Share option.
- ❌ Do not copy the URL directly from the browser address bar.
Using the share link ensures the video embeds correctly.
Accessibility Considerations
Whenever possible, videos should be accessible to all users.
Consider:
- Closed captions
- Accurate transcripts
- Clear audio quality
- Meaningful video titles
Providing captions and transcripts improves both accessibility and usability.
Video Placement Best Practices
Place Videos Near Related Content
Videos should support the surrounding content rather than interrupt it.
Introduce the Video
Provide a short description explaining:
- What the video covers
- Why visitors should watch it
Avoid Too Many Videos on One Page
Multiple embedded videos can increase page length and compete for attention.
Test on Mobile Devices
Always preview pages to ensure videos display correctly across devices.
Common Uses
Video Embeds are frequently used for:
- Welcome messages
- Training materials
- Research highlights
- Event recordings
- Product demonstrations
- Promotional content
They are especially effective when combined with supporting text and clear calls to action.

Hello and welcome to cutheme Mastery Training, Module 4. In this video, we will cover video embeds.
Earlier in training, we covered video posts, which are one of two ways to add a video to your site. Video Embeds are the other way. The main difference between the two is that video embeds are not posts, but rather a video that is simply embedded within a page. Video Posts have their own link and post, while video embeds do not.
To add a video embed, go to the block selection menu, go down to “Embed”, and click “Video Embed”.
Just like for video posts, a video must be hosted on either YouTube, Vimeo, Kaltura or TED to be embedded.
To embed the video, go to the tab the video is located in. I’ve got this one right here. Copy it, and paste it within the box, and click embed.
And just like that, you have a video embed.
Try it Out
- Add a Video Embed block to a page.
- Paste a video URL from a supported platform.
- Embed the video.
- Switch the block to a wide-width layout.
- Add a short introduction above the video.
- Preview the page and test playback.
