Biography
Like a seed being planted in the appropriate soil, Olivia’s academic dream starts to germinate at the Department of Economics. Before getting enrolled in the MA Economics, Olivia was engaged in professional work for several years. Like a dormant seed cherishes an awaited timing to sprout, she treasures the opportunity of returning to the campus to explore her academic potential and interests. In comparison with peers who made a seamless transition to graduate studies, Olivia appeared to fall behind at the starting line with the gap years. However, the headwind keeps reminding her of dedicating excessive time and effort to strive for excellence. Strong motivation, self-discipline and perseverance enable the little seed to fasten the academic soil at Carleton University, where she is nurtured the interest in modeling people’s economic behaviors during decision-making processes. She is fascinated by the prospect of exploring this font edge at the interface of multi-disciplines. With a GPA as high as 11.4 and other academic achievements, she has been selected as the recipient of the Ontario Graduate Scholarship and the H. Edward and Katherine English Memorial Scholarship.
Future Pursuits
Olivia will continue to pursue her academic career with the quality Ottawa-Carleton joint Ph.D. program in economics.
