While my plans have changed substantially over time, I couldn’t be happier where I am now. I am the North and Eastern Territory Manager for a cannabis company. I have created training and research programs for multi-million-dollar companies as well as opened my own company right here in Ottawa. While my position is not directly related to my English degree, my education has helped me significantly in gaining not just employment, but a true career I am proud of. My ability to write, edit, and research has helped me immensely in nearly every pursuit I’ve had since I graduated.
My degree has informed and helped shape my professional path significantly. It has absolutely been essential in not just my ability to grow but my confidence and drive to do just that. It has also helped my creative pursuits as well, as I have written content for several blogs and even radio shows. I am even working toward writing my own book.
I moved from a small town to attend Carleton and I am very happy I did. It’s not just the institution that has helped me grow and thrive, it’s the city too. Being exposed to different cultures, arts, and so much more helped my tiny comfort zone become so much bigger and more exciting. Lived experience is just as important as academics; when combined together in harmony, they make for opportunities everywhere you go.
