While working at Sandalwood Heights Secondary School most recently, I have had the opportunity to implement a variety of collaborative teaching and learning strategies, and I continue to be committed to providing a safe, caring, and supportive learning environment for all.
During my career in Peel over the last 12 years, my love of teaching English and reading fiction has inspired me to become an advocate of literacy, and leader in our reading community. I have been involved in our school outside of the classroom by attending Professional Development opportunities, attaining Additional Qualifications including my English and Librarianship Specialist, running the White Pine Book Club, chairing the Peel Fiction Review Committee, reading for the White Pine Selection Committee, participating as a Literacy Committee and Climate Committee member, and currently hold the position of president for the Peel Secondary School Teacher Librarian Association. Most recently, I have been involved with starting a Gay Straight Alliance, and developing the Varsity Girls Cricket program at my school. The Varsity Girls Cricket team went on to win the gold medal in the Region of Peel Secondary School Athletic Association. These experiences have given me great insight while broadening my perspective as a teacher.
