Tegan Emes
MLIS Candidate
Degrees: | B.I.T. Information Resource Management, Minor in Drama Studies, 2022 (Carleton University) |
Currently I am a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) candidate at the University of Western Ontario. My Minor in Drama Studies has assisted me greatly during my graduate studies as it allowed me to cultivate a greater skill for academic writing and formal presentation. While I am not using my Drama Studies knowledge directly during my graduate studies, this knowledge will serve me well in the future if I have the opportunity to work in a theatre archive or special collection.
After completing a Minor in Drama Studies I am uniquely qualified for jobs within library and archival institutions that manage theatre artefacts and resources. My Drama Studies Minor has also afforded me greater confidence in my academic writing and formal presentation skills, which are vital for course work at the graduate level.
I chose to complete my undergraduate studies at Carleton for the unique B.I.T. degree program, which is an integrated program associated with Algonquin College. When I began my studies in the Information Resource Management stream I was required to select a minor that could provide a subject specialty for my future library career. I chose a minor in Drama Studies as I have a personal interest in theatre arts. By choosing a technological major and a liberal arts minor I have cultivated a well rounded academic skill set, which has served me well in my graduate studies.
