Exams: what to expect

The university exam site has an FAQ with many answers for the most common questions related to writing exams, as well as contacts for your questions.

  • Confirm times for your exams in Carleton Central (under Student Records>myExam Schedule). Times listed are Eastern Daylight Time.

What if you get sick and have to miss an exam?

  • The Registrar’s Office oversees exam deferrals and can be contacted here with any questions or concerns.
  • This is the online deferral form. A doctor’s note or other documentation is normally required.

Nominate a fellow student for the Spirit award

Is there a student who has made a real difference to your experience in the ESP this year? Let them know how much you appreciate their contribution by nominating them for an award. You just fill in the online form– it’s easy and takes 10 minutes! Tell us what makes your nominee worthy of an award.

The ESP Jean and Richard Van Loon Spirit Award will be awarded to an Enriched Support Program student who has helped to make a difference to others in their year with the program. The winner will receive $2,500-$3,000 toward degree studies at Carleton University the fall following their ESP year.

ESP Spring Fling Open Mic: Friday, April 5

Join us for the ESP Spring Fling Open Mic!

What: An open mic – you’re welcome to perform: karaoke, comedy, slam poetry, you name it! Or come out to appreciate your talented peeps. We’ll also have plenty of snacks (including gluten free options).

Where: Rooster’s Coffee house on the 4th floor Nideyinàn

When: This Friday, April 5 from 6:30-8:30 pm

The event is to celebrate everyone’s hard work this year and while it is for the Enriched Support Program, everyone is welcome! Hope to see you there.

Free off campus tax clinics: April 5 and 10

If you need help preparing a personal tax return that isn’t too complex, or if you know someone who may need this service, Carleton University Students are hosting two free tax clinics. One clinic will be at the Riverside South Church (K1V 8N8) on Friday, April 5 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The other will be at the Blackburn Hamlet Community Hall (190 Glen Park Dr, Gloucester, ON K2B 5A3) on Wednesday, April 10 from 3 to 6 p.m. Register here.


Solar Eclipse April 8: witness it and learn more with the Physics department

Attention all sky gazers and astronomy enthusiasts! You’re invited to witness the solar eclipse with the Department of Physics! Don’t miss this unique opportunity to witness a solar eclipse! Learn more about how to protect your vision during the solar eclipse on April 8. Ottawa is expected to witness a darkening of the sky and edge effect. The total light intensity decreases, but solar radiation will still reach the earth’s surface. If the eclipse is viewed directly without appropriate eye protection, the resulting exposure can damage the eye. Protect yourself. For more information, visit the EHS Solar Eclipse Safety page.

Summer course registration reminder

A reminder that summer course registration is open. Here’s how to register:

  1. Decide how many courses you want to take:
    • Your default course load is 1.0 credit (part-time);
    • Apply to increase your course load to full-time.
  2. Build a draft timetable in Carleton Central.
    • Check out this handy video on how to build a draft timetable.
  3. Check if you have any registration holds.
    • Your ESP registration hold should expire on March 15th.
    • If you have unpaid fees, you may have a financial hold that prevents registration.
  4. Register. Get an error message? You can ask for permission to take the class using the Course Override Request form. No guarantees, but it doesn’t hurt to try.
  5. Pay fees. See the fee payment methods here.

Fees are due April 25th but can be deferred if you have applied for OSAP. Details on payment and the conditions to defer are on the Student Accounts website.
