Thermogravimetric Analysis
We routinely use the TGA (and DSC) to assess volatility and thermal stability of samples. Each experiment requires only 10 to 100 mg. Many tests are available but the most commonly used are ramps, isotherms, and “stress tests”. From this data we can calculate vapour pressures, identify thermal decomposition, and qualitatively assess purity.
