Gender Studies Under Siege: Past Struggles, Present Crises, and Possible Futures in Higher Education

2026 Florence Bird Annual Lecture

The Feminist Institute of Social Transformation at Carleton University is pleased to host the 2026 Florence Bird Annual Lecture on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM in Room 4010 of the Nicol Building on Carleton University’s campus.

This year’s lecture, Gender Studies Under Siege: Past Struggles, Present Crises, and Possible Futures in Higher Education, brings together three distinguished scholars—Grace Adeniyi-Ogunyankin (Queen’s University), Gulzar R. Charania (University of Ottawa), and Natalie Kouri-Towe (Concordia University)—for a timely and critical panel discussion. The panel will be moderated by Megan Rivers-Moore, Director and Associate Professor at the Feminist Institute of Social Transformation.

This event is free and open to the public. No registration is required; however, guests are encouraged to arrive on time to ensure seating and to support the timely start of the lecture. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Lana Keon via email at: LanaKeon@carleton.ca
