Study Law at Carleton University

Learn about the dynamics and operation of law in the context of social, economic, cultural and political structures from our award-winning professors.

Canada’s oldest and largest BA Law Program.

Specialize your studies by choosing one of our four concentrations: Business Law; Criminal Law and Social Order; Law, Policy and Government; or Transnational Law and Human Rights.

Law is not just for lawyers. Laws and legal actors shape and impact our lives everyday! Laws can protect our freedoms, but may also impose limits on our actions and opportunities. Laws can protect us, or confine and oppress us. Laws can help us address fundamental challenges we face as a society, or impose obstacles in our attempts to deal with these challenges

My time with Carleton University’s Law and Legal Studies Department has been truly exceptional! From the dedicated professors and staff to the enriching extracurricular activities, each aspect has left a lasting impression on me. The sense of belonging within the Law community ensures you are never alone and there’s always support. I take great pride in being part of the CU Law family and representing my department.
