Program Requirements
Program requirements can be found on the Graduate Calendar.
You must also maintain good Academic Standing and follow the rest of the General Graduate Regulations.
Program Timelines
The following timelines are meant to serve as a general guideline only. You should always consult with your supervisor(s) regarding your timeline and course selection if you are enrolled in a Thesis or Project Pathway, or the HCI Graduate Administrators(s) if you are a student in the Coursework Pathway.
All programs are designed to be completed over a minimum two-year period, with registration in the summer term following the second year of study as required for thesis and project students.
Thesis Pathway

Additional Notes
- You must consult with your supervisor(s) regarding course selection.
- You must complete your coursework before you register for your thesis.
- When you first register for your thesis, you will receive an error and must provide a registration override request. Your supervisor must send an approval email to the Graduate Administrator team to approve the registration override request.
- Once the thesis is started, you must maintain continuous registration until completion. This includes registering in the summer term.
Project Pathway

- You must consult with your supervisor(s) regarding course selection.
- You must complete your coursework before you register for your project.
- When you first register for your project, you will receive an error and must provide a registration override request. Your supervisor must send an approval email to the Graduate Administrator team to approve the registration override request.
- A project is expected to take two terms to complete.
- Once the thesis is started, you must maintain continuous registration until completion. This includes registering in the summer term (if required).
Coursework Pathway

Additional Notes
- Students in the coursework pathway must select their courses from the HCI Approved Electives List.
- It is recommended to take 1.0 credit (two 0.5 credit courses) per term to complete the program over a two year (four term) period.
- There are typically no approved electives offered in the summer term.
